Kenora Area Physician Recruitment

Healthcare Facilities

Kenora is the second largest healthcare centre in our region outside of Thunder Bay and currently the only Ontario Health Team in the Northwest. Our fully accredited 66-bed teaching hospital is staffed with Family Physicians, GP Anaesthetists, General Surgeons, Internists, Psychiatrists, and Radiologists, all working to their full-scope of practice! We also have a wide variety of specialists serving our community. Our Family Physicians enjoy the ability to diversify their practice portfolio with the ample opportunity to build a personalized practice portfolio. Physicians can work clinic, do Outreach with the First Nations communities, work in the Emergency Department, hospitalist service, and more – or simplify practice within a salaried model of care, with clinic held Monday to Friday during business hours and no call expectations. What a way to build your dream life and truly practice wellness!

Family Clinics

In three of our Family Medicine Clinics, Physicians work in a Family Health Network (FHN) payment model with the Sunset Country Family Health Team. Kenora also supports Primary Care with and in our surrounding First Nations communities via partner organizations with Kenora Chiefs Advisory and Waasegiizhig Nanaandawe’iyewigamig where physicians are compensated under a salaried model. Practitioners have the opportunity to create their ideal practice portfolio which can range from clinic-only practice during business hours, or to a blend of clinic and hospital work, and also community Outreach.

Specialists

The size of our community and hospital, geographic location as well as patient needs in the Northwest region require a higher level of care that only specialist physicians can provide. Specialist referrals can result in patients travelling great lengths to receive care, so we are working together as a region to bring in specialist physicians to provide care closer to home whenever possible.

  • Internal Medicine
  • Psychiatry (General Adult and Child/Adolescent)
